ELDAR GROSS / DOCUMENTARIAN

DOMPERFILM

Domperfilm is a sublabel with director and sound engineer Willem de Wijs. Together we document dying out dutch crafts and preserving them for future generations.

The first video tells the story of a farmer in the south of the Netherlands who is the last living man skilled in the art of Skjokkeren. Skjokkeren is a way of long disctance visual communication using the human body. It was used for centuries by farmers in the south to easily communicate on the flat fields of Holland.

The second video tells the story of a modern day sea sheperd, guiding his flocks of fish trough the tides of Sealand, a southern province of The Netherlands with extreme tides. Protecting them from the changing climate, murdering seals and global shipping the sheperd preserves fish populations neccesary for the fishgrounds and the ecosystem.

The third video tells the story of Hank and Jeppe Dussen. two brothers who try to perserve a forgotten measuring technique used in Schokland, Schokthrowing. Once a island, the now dried up Schokland is the birthplace of this middle aged technique in which islands where mapped and sediments were recorded.

These are mockumentaries and thus complete bullshit ;)
